Angelina Jolie meets flood-affected people in southern Pakistan

Angelina Jolie, a Hollywood celebrity and UN humanitarian, has been to flood-affected districts in southern Pakistan to interact with the locals.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees special envoy traveled to the South Asian nation to raise awareness of the country\’s escalating humanitarian catastrophe, which has resulted from devastating floods that have killed more than 1,500 people and displaced millions of others.

According to a statement from the International Rescue Committee, the 47-year-old is in Pakistan to aid communities that the disastrous floods have impacted.

 

The well-known Hollywood, who amassed millions of admirers, will learn about the serious situation and connect with people to learn about their needs and how to stop future pain.

Angelina Jolie is also expected to visit the IRC\’s response operations and nearby nonprofits helping the displaced.

Since becoming a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee organization, The Wanted celebrity has made multiple trips to the nation with the second-largest Muslim population.

She last traveled to Pakistan in 2010, after the devastating floods that had ravaged most of the nation. Jolie has made three trips throughout the nation to draw attention to the precarious situation of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan.
She recently traveled there after unprecedented monsoon rains inundated a third of the nation\’s territory, affected an additional 33 million people, destroyed infrastructure, and destroyed cattle.

While waterborne diseases like cholera and dengue are rising, officials have warned that it could take months for the sea-like floods to recede in the country\’s hardest-hit areas.
