Arrest warrants issued for Imran Khan In a contempt case, Pakistan’s top election watchdog on Tuesday issued arrest warrants with the possibility of a bond for the ousted premier, Imran Khan, and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf officials.
According to reports in the local media, after the Election Commission rejected a request for an exemption from attendance, arrest warrants were also issued for several key members of the former ruling party, including Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry.
As a result of the interested parties’ refusal to physically appear before the commission as the ongoing contempt proceedings required, ECP issued the warrants.
