Critics of the HUM TV award event pointed out that although American actress Angelina Jolie had travelled to Pakistan to aid flood victims, several of the country\’s most celebrities had departed for Canada to attend the show. Because Lara Croft visited flood-affected areas, PPP leader Sharmila Faruqui criticised prominent Pakistanis who attended the awards event despite the disaster.

In terms of his professional life, Rehman has hosted the show Morning Star with Azfar Rehman and has been in the drama serials Dil Awaiz, Dil Zaar Zaar, Zakham, and Angna.
