Gen Bajwa confirms retirement plans after the completion of his second three-year term

Gen Bajwa confirms retirement : When his second three-year tenure ends in November, Gen. Bajwa has stated that he intends to resign.

The army commander commented on his speech at a luncheon held at the Pakistani embassy in Washington.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), stated that the armed services have retreated from politics and intend to do so.

“There could be no diplomacy without a strong economy,” said the army chief.

COAS further added that the nation cannot achieve its targets without a strong economy.

“Restoring the ailing economy of the country should be the priority of every stakeholder of the society,” Gen Bajwa added.

The ISPR reports that Gen. Bajwa met with Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Ruth Sherman, Secretary of Defense Lloyd James Austin III, and National Security Advisor Jacob Jeremiah Sullivan.

Currently visiting the US is the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.

 

It is important to note that on Tuesday, it was falsely stated in the local media that the COAS\’s current travel to the US includes the DGI, CGS, and DGMO.
