A substantial pay increase of up to 200% has been suggested by the federal government for senators and members of the National Assembly (MNAs). According to sources, MNAs’ present monthly compensation of about Rs. 1.68 lakh could be significantly increased. It is anticipated that the proposal, which also calls for pay increases for advisors, ministers, and high-ranking officials including the Senate Chairman and Speaker of the National Assembly, will be put forth for approval. Following discussions with the opposition and coalition parties, who came to an agreement in the face of mounting inflation fears, this decision was made.
