Fawad Chaudhry believes that the Sialkot-based manufacturers. Famous for producing the finest quality sports goods, are more than capable of producing such a Smart Cricket Balls locally.

The Federal Minister pitched this idea in response to a tweet shared by the renowned host, Fakhr-e-Alam.

While sharing video footage of the smart cricket ball developed in Australia. Fawad said, “Sialkot walas lets do that shouldn’t be a problem … let us do a joint project with technical universities and create his own smart cricket ball…,” he tweeted.

It must be noted that a partnership between Kookaburra Sports and SportCor, which takes a regular Kookaburra cricket ball and embeds a SportCor electronic chip inside the core of the ball, led to the production of Kookaburra SmartBall back in August 2019. Although, it is still in the testing phase and not used for international cricket matches.

The product can deliver instant statistics on speed – at release point, pre-bounce and post-bounce. That is more detailed and accurate than the existing radar technology.

The ball can also measure revolutions at the same points, which is especially useful when it comes to spinners.

It can also help make better umpiring decisions by showing. Whether a ball has definitively hit the bat or the grass. In the case of catches that are too close to call.
