Law Ministry Responds To President Alvi’s shocking Revelation About Army Acts Bills

Law Ministry: A day after the divisive Army Act bills became laws, the Ministry of Law and Justice raised worry regarding President Dr. Arif Alvi’s comments. In an unexpected turn of events, President Alvi, now known as X, said on Twitter that he had not signed the measures modifying the Official Secrets Act and the Pakistan Army Act into law because the Supreme Commander of the forces disagreed with them.

Alvi apologized to the people impacted by the legislation while alleging that his staff had undermined his authority and will.

The Ministry of Law reacts to the development shortly after the President’s revelations. In a statement, it said that Article 75 of the Constitution only provides for the consent or referral of laws to the parliament. President was encouraged to accept accountability for his conduct after his delayed assent was denounced as unlawful.

The Ministry added that the President had delayed the assent on purpose. The Constitution only allows for returning bills with comments or approval. It went on to say that such a course of conduct is against both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution.
