Tuesday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced that Joint Commission International\’s enterprise-level Accreditation made Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) the second hospital in the world (JCI).
Accreditation, the highest accolade in the medical world, was conferred in recognition of the hospital\’s commitment to a compassionate patient care programme.
Khan took to Twitter, saying:
I’m glad to announce that Shaukat Khanum has earned total Enterprise Accreditation from the Joint Commission International following a three-week thorough survey, making it the second organization in the world to do so.
The enterprise survey analysed and evaluated the Shaukat Khanum healthcare system\’s capacity to deliver consistent care across facilities in Lahore, Peshawar, and Karachi.
The JCI is a pioneer in accrediting hospital quality in countries worldwide. The United States serves as its headquarters.

Shaukat Khanum Lahore received its initial JCI accreditation in 2018 and a renewal in 2021, whereas Shaukat Khanum Peshawar received its initial JCI accreditation in 2019 and a renewal in 2022.
It\’s also important to point out that the Shaukat Khanum Diagnostic Centre and Clinic in Karachi has acquired its preliminary certification.

JCI Enterprise Accreditation confirmed that every operation within the network, from patient care to procurement to waste disposal to facility safety, complies with the same strict guidelines and standards.
Because of this certification, patients can feel safe knowing they will receive the best care possible in the hospital in accordance with international standards, regardless of their financial situation.
