In response to the news, the Islamabad Police Department released a statement quoting Inspector General (IG) Akbar Nasir Khan as saying that Imran had been detained in connection with the case in which it is alleged that the PTI leader and his wife received billions of rupees from a real estate company in exchange for legalizing Rs50 billion.
The police head added that Section 144 had been implemented in the city and that offenders would face punishment.
