Motorway Speed Limits Restored to 120 kmh for Cars and 110 kmh for Heavy Vehicles
Following the withdrawal of the temporary speed limit restrictions implemented earlier as part of austerity measures, the government has formally reinstated the old speed limits on motorways and national highways. During a time of economic strain and rising global energy prices, the restrictions were put in place to lower fuel use and operating expenses.
Public service vehicles and heavy transport trucks can now operate at a maximum speed of 110 kilometres per hour, while cars and light transport vehicles can drive up to 120 kilometres per hour, according to officials. However, big transport vehicles and public service vehicles can now reach a top speed of 110 km/h. On national highways, the same speed limits have been immediately re-established. To prevent collisions and preserve efficient traffic flow around the nation, authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, adhere to traffic laws, and maintain road safety.
