Authorities claim that by luring thousands of young Pakistanis into risky platforms, these influencers glamorised gambling and established a corrupt underground economy worth billions of rupees.
According to reports, influencer campaigns funded by the notorious platform “World 777” encouraged juvenile addiction and financial disaster. Mathira, Nadir Ali, Aimen Zaman, Varda Malik, Javeria Aurangzeb, Abeera Khan, Faryal Fairy, and Nauman Kazmi are among the other well-known individuals being investigated.
NCCIA warned that failing to appear for questioning could be seen as an admission of guilt, sending shockwaves through Pakistan’s influencer and social media community.
46 illicit gambling and forex apps have been banned by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Authorities said that these networks posed major privacy and financial dangers by unlawfully collecting money and exchanging private user information.
Authorities cautioned that these programmes still prey on Pakistan’s youth and advised people to stay away from unreliable trading or investment apps.
