Eidul Azha 2026: Five cattle markets to be established in Karachi

Before Eidul Azha 2026, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) was given permission by the port city authorities to set up cow markets at five specific places throughout the city.

Eid ul Adha – A Celebration of Sacrifice and Compassion

The official announcement states that markets will be set up at Gulistan-e-Johar Blocks 5 and 6, KMC Grounds, Sunday Bazar in North Karachi, and Safari Park.
Additionally, the cattle markets will be set up on empty plots in Korangi and the Bakra Piri neighbourhood of Lyari.

Recall that in order to control trade and offer organised facilities for buyers and sellers, KMC had asked for permission to establish 11 cattle markets throughout the city.

In Pakistan, animal prices have significantly increased due to rising demand and inflation as Muslims around the world get ready to celebrate Eidul Azha with the sacrifice custom of “Qurbani.”

A goat that produced about 25 kg of meat cost between Rs50,000 and Rs60,000 last year.

The same category is price between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 70,000 this year. Previously costing about Rs. 150,000, larger and more expensive goats are now selling for about Rs. 160,000.

Prices for cattle have also been impact. A decent bull weighing about three maunds cost between Rs. 180,000 and Rs. 200,000 last year.

The anticipated price may stay below Rs200,000 this year, even though the quantity of animals in marketplaces is high since border closures are impeding exports.
