Huge protests break out at Chandigarh University after videos of girls taking bath leaked online

After a guest recorded and posted pornographic videos of other female students at a private institution in Indian Punjab Chandigarh University , students showed up and demonstrated.

A female reportedly attempted suicide on campus during the protest on Saturday, which caused national and international media to cover the situation. Earlier, the administration sought to bury the protest to protect the university\’s reputation. Law enforcement officials arrived at Chandigarh University quickly, dispersed the demonstrators, and detained one student.

Police subsequently filed a complaint against the accused female, a first-year MBA student, for making and uploading pornographic videos online in violation of Section 354C of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.

Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of India\’s Punjab, denounced the occurrence. \”I\’m sorry to hear about the event… Our daughters are our pride; a high-level investigation into the incident has been ordered; anybody found responsible will face severe punishment, he added in a tweet.

 

The University Pro-Chancellor responded as the story gained media attention, claiming that the rumour regarding offensive footage being spread through the media is untrue and without merit. He claimed that the defendant recorded herself and showed it to her boyfriend.
