The idea behind mindfulness seems simple—the practise takes patience. Man people search about the benefits of meditation.
What is Meditation
Before knowing about the benefits of meditation first understand what is meditation. Unlike the narrow view of it being a breathing technique or some method to improve concentration/ focus, let me briefly describe meditation. Meditation, in the true sense, is a radical form of being in the absolute present. It is a state where one tries to dispel anything and everything about the past and future. Being in the absolute present is a very daunting task given the dynamics of our brain, our long-life experiences, and our preoccupations with our priorities in life. Thus, meditation attempts to direct your conscious mind towards just being in the exact nanosecond of the present happenings.
What are Your Mind Dynamics?
Well, our mind never waits in the present. Just try to stop for a moment and think. Everything you are thinking or doing is either driven by something that has occurred in the past or is continued by some future aspirations. Any task you perform in your normal life course has almost zero percent of the absolute present.
Why Is It Important To Be In The Absolute present?
The state of the absolute present is the state of bliss. Let me give you the extreme case of what I mean by the absolute present. It is like the state of a baby in a mother\’s womb. With no absorption of the baby with the past or present, the baby is in a state of absolute bliss. No pain and no delight. Have you heard a baby crying inside?
But, as the baby is out, as she starts mapping and modeling the world, the sensation of pain and happiness is imbibed in her. Now, surely, we cannot and should not aim to reach that state, but it is important to declutter your mind, at least for a small period, to experience that state—that state of utmost bliss, where your experience no pain or no delight. You experience the truth, and that is the state of being in the absolute present. You should also know about the style before knowing about the benefits of meditation
How Do you Achieve That State Of Meditation?
Some means to do it, Some effective, some not that effective, some long-lasting, some just superficial. But every method tries to reach that state of directing your mind towards being just in the present, to some degree.
Meditation By Focusing On An Object
It was a common method taught in school. You pick up a point object and focusing on that point. As you do the concentration, try to see that point. With this, you try to engage your optical senses in the present truth in front of your eyes, which is the point object. Well, This technique was ineffective for me since only one sense organ was involved, while the rest were free to wander.
Meditation By Recitation
This is a very common method. It often comes with religious undertones, but at the core, it tries to direct your speech, your hearing organ towards that state. This failed to trick the brain into being in the absolute present since my other sensory organs were free to wander.

Vipassana Meditation
It is a form of mindful Meditation. It tries to trick the brain into coming to terms with the absolute reality. Your mind is concentrated on the ultimate truth of every animal life on earth, and that is your breath. When you are in sync with the breath at the scale of every nanosecond, you container be any more in that \”absolute present\” time-space. You are not visualizing a light reflected off an object ( which itself is delayed by a certain amount).
Meditation Time Duration
In benefits of meditation most important thing time duration. The wide range of benefits purely depends on your goal and the time you give to meditation.
15–20 min/day of meditation in the morning will increase your attention span.
While 30–40 minutes daily overtime is shown to increase grey matter in one\’s brain\’s prefrontal cortex. It helps balance impulses and emotions. You will develop the skill to see thoughts as just thoughts, and something that appears on its own then vanishes. So, when negative emotions such as jealousy or anger arise, you will know how to be mindful of it and see the emotion vanish in a few seconds, rather than dwelling on it without realizing that you are angry or jealous.
Attending long-duration meditation retreats. A most common one being Vipassana, a ten-day of silent retreat where one meditates for 10 hours a day and eats simple food. During these long meditating hours, you will experience some unique mental states which one cannot experience on day-to-day life.
In normal times, we are too consumed and distracted by sights, sounds, smells, sensations & thoughts that we do not realize what the reality is.
Meditating for hours, there are moments where the brain becomes so quiet that you lose the sense of self.
There appears a moment when there are just consciousness and no sense of self. It is impossible to stay in such a supreme state for any more than a few moments for normal people before the next thought arises automatically and ruins everything.
