PM Shehbaz, son Hamza acquitted in Rs16 billion money laundering case

Shehbaz son Hamza acquitted: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz were cleared of all charges in the Rs. 16 billion money laundering case on Wednesday by a court in the capital city of Punjab.

The Federal Investigation Agency prosecutor informed the judge that no money had been directly place into the father-son duo\’s bank accounts before the Special Court, Central, issued the verdict.

Shehbaz Sharif\’s attorney said during today\’s hearing that the investigation officer had tried to manipulate the statements made by case witnesses.

Out of 161 witnesses, not a single one has named Shehbaz Sharif or Hamza Shahbaz by name in their testimony.

The court had reserved judgment following the hearing of the arguments.

The FIA filed a complaint against Shehbaz and Hamza in the special court in December 2021 for their alleged role in laundering Rs16 billion in the sugar scam case.
