On August 12 of this year, the controversial author was cut with a knife during a literary event in New York.

According to a health report provided by Salman Rushdie\’s representative, the author is recovering from an attack while also losing the use of one hand and one eye.

In an article in the Spanish-language newspaper El Pais on Saturday, literary agent Andrew Wylie stated that Rushdie had 15 additional wounds to his chest and torso in addition to the three serious injuries to his neck sustained in the attack, left one eye blind, and one hand paralyzed.

Rushdie was hospitalized in a hospital in Pennsylvania following the incident, where he was momentarily placed on a ventilator to recover from what Wylie described to El Pais as a \”brutal attack\” that had severed the nerves in one arm.

Rasool Shatam Salman Rushdie , 75, spent years in hiding after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa in 1989 calling for his execution after the release of his book \”The Satanic Verses,\” which Muslims view as blasphemous. Rushdie has had unfettered access to travel for the past 20 years.

Hadi Matar, 24, a native of Fairview, New Jersey, was the assailant who attacked Rushdie on August 12; he has since been imprisoned after pleading not guilty to attempted murder and assault.

At the Chautauqua Institution, a remote facility 55 miles (89 km) southwest of Buffalo that is well-known for its summer lecture series, Rushie was attacked as he was being introduced.
