World First University Was Founded By A Muslim Woman

World First University: In Fez, currently in Morocco, Fatima bint Muhammad Al-Fihriya Al-Qurashiya established the first University in history in 895 CE. She prefers to go by the name Fatima al-Fihri, and when she and her sister shared their father\’s riches, she utilized her portion to found The University of Al Qarawiynn.

According to UNESCO and Guinness World Records, the University of Al Quaraouiyine is the oldest continuously running and the first degree-granting educational institution in the world. In 1963, the organization was integrated into Morocco\’s current system of public universities. The Islamic religious and legal sciences are the main focus of education at Al Quaraouiyine University, with a strong emphasis on Maliki law and Classical Arabic grammar/linguistics. While seated in a semicircle, students are taught around a sheikh who directs their reading, asks them questions, and clarifies challenging concepts. Both men and women are welcome to attend the University.
