One of BBC News’s main presenters, Maryam Moshiri, was spotted earlier this week on Wednesday, raising her eyebrows and giving a middle finger when the program’s recognizable countdown concluded.

She apologized on social media on Thursday, stating that she had been kidding about with the crew and acting like she was counting down with her fingers.
She posted on X-platform, saying, “When we got to 1, I turned [my] finger around as a joke and did not realize that this would be caught on camera.”
I apologize for the joke going public; it was a private one between the team and me. I apologize to anyone I may have insulted or disturbed; this was not my aim. Wasn’t “flipping the bird” at the audience or anybody else for that matter. Maryam Moshiri said, “It was a silly joke that was meant for a small number of my mates,” and included the emoji “face palm.”
