If we are feeling a bit sticky in the heat, imagine how your cat feels in their fur coat. Long day\’s high temperatures and direct sunlight can be both uncomfortable and dangerous for cats, so everyone show knows how to keep their kitty cool and comfortable. When the heat arrives, cats cannot feel hot and bothered; they are at higher risk of possibly fatal heatstroke. Keeping feline, temperatures low as possible during warm summer months are vital. We keep our patio misters on from 6 a.m. till about 8 p.m. during the summer heat, but during those excessively high heat days, we will go out and soak the patio up to 3 times a day to keep the colony cool. When we see any cat in distress during the high heat of summer, we will immediately drop everything grab a bucket, cool water, washcloths, and towels and go to work cooling down the overheated victim. We start rubbing it down with wet towels and give it water via wet washcloth to suck on. We have saved several cats we this method. All these tips help you to cat cool in summer days.

Always check sheds and garages before sitting doors. Cats can find their way into all sorts of hides holes, particularly if they are looking for a shady spot to cool down. Watch for symptoms of heatstroke. These include excessive panting — lethargy, drooling, fever, vomiting, collapse, or unconsciousness.
