Pakistan has decided to impose a temporary ban on online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, also known as PUBG, the PTA confirmed Wednesday. It is one of the best battle-royale games on the Android and iOS platforms, developed by Tencent Games. It has 100,000,000+ installs on Google Play Store, making it the most played battle royale game. Lahore High Court ordered Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to ban PUBG Mobile two months ago. Because it is highly addictive and dangerous for health. It is also diminishing the ability of decision making in children.
A PTA spokesman said a final decision on a total ban on the game would be made after discussion. It may recall that two children had committed suicide in Lahore. When they were not allowed to play the PUBG game, on which the parents of both the children had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking a complete ban on the game. IG police had also sent a letter to PTA regarding the closedown of the PUBG game. After the suicide of three Lahore youths, Punjab Police has asked the FIA and Pakistan Telecom Authority to block the IPs of online video games in Pakistan so that children cannot play the game.
The psychologist said that due to the game, young people are suffering from mental stress. While the element of violence is also increasing among them.
